A talented and capacity field of three-year-old fillies has been confirmed for the rescheduled 2016 Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2400m) on Stradbroke Handicap Day at Eagle Farm this weekend; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint.
Imposing Lass has been backed into outright $6.50 favouritism in 2016 Queensland Oaks betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au and currently registers as clear market mover, ahead of Falkenberg ($7) and Kiwi raider Provocative ($8).
Will Imposing Lass justify favouritism and win the 2016 Queensland Oaks, or will one of her many talented rivals post an upset?
Chabaud is a proven stayer, carries winning form into the 2016 Queensland Oaks and represents terrific value for money at current $12 odds for success. Claiming four wins and as many minors through thirteen career starts, the Lookin At Lucky broke through for a maiden black type win in the Listed Tasmanian Oaks (2100m) on February 21st; progressing to sixth in the talent-rich Noel Rundle Handicap (2000m) before charging home for an impressive fifth in the Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) on Day 1 of The Championships. Having placed fourth in a Flemington minor over 2000m upon returning from a brief freshen-up, Chabaud savaged the line for success in the Group 2 SA Fillies’ Classic (2500m) on May 21st and should prove tough to beat this weekend.
Sebring Sally ($17)
Sebring Sally has posted a number of impressive results this year and is simply over the 2016 Queensland Oaks odds at her current quote. Winner of the Listed Les Lees Strutt Stakes (2100m) on February 8th, the Sebring filly failed to fire in her next start but returned to the mainland for fourth in a Canterbury minor over 1550m. While clearly needing a run upon arriving in Brisbane for tenth in the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m), Sebring Sally charged home for second in the Group 2 The Roses (2000m) most recently and has the added advantage of Hugh Bowman in the saddle this weekend.
Imposing Lass ($6.50)
Imposing Lass isn’t proven over the mile and a half of the Queensland Oaks, but her class is sure to count for a lot in the Group 1 race and she is drawn well in the central barrier 10. Yet to finishing outside the first three through six career starts, Imposing Lass made a successful transition to black type company when she took out the Gold Coast Bracelet, and ran on well for third in The Roses last time out.
