Early 2015 Queensland Oaks Betting Update

May 18th, 2015

Won by talented Toowoomba filly Tinto in 2014, the Group 1 Queensland Oaks will be contested over the shorter 2200m track at Doomben this season and renovations to the Eagle Farm course continue, and looks likely to attract a talented and capacity field on May 30th.

Chris Waller-trained filly Winx has returned to racing in typically good form this season and has firmed as clear favourite in 2015 Queensland Oaks betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au following an impressive win on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

Finishing outside the firs three only a handful of times through her eleven career starts so far, Winx stamped her claims as one to watch upon returning in spring for success in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) on September 6th; progressing to close second place finishes in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m).

Taking a couple of runs to find form this time, the Street Cry filly returned to the winner’s circle in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) on March 14th, before finishing fifth in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) and second in the Group 1 Australian Oak (2400m).

Jogging home to win the Group 3 Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) by two lengths on Saturday, Winx looks likely to jump clear favourite in the 2015 Queensland Oaks.

Ballet Suite has posted several commendable results of her own this time and currently occupies the second line of 2015 Queensland Oaks betting at generous $6.50 odds.

Returning for success in the Colin Glover BM67 (1400m) on February 18th, Ballet Suite repeated the dose in the TAB Place Multi BM70 (1600m) before placing an impressive fourth in the Vinery Stud Stakes.

Having returned to the winner’s circle in the Listed Princess Stakes (2000m) on May 9th, the daughter of High Chapparal looks likely to relish a step-up 200m and will be tough to beat in the 2015 Queensland Oaks.

Interestingly figuring as the only other runner currently available at a quote of less than $10 for success in early 2015 Queensland Oaks betting markets, Ungrateful Ellen has finished outside the first three only once in four starts this time and is more than worth consideration for an early bet at $9 odds.

Placing third in a Bendigo minor over 1400m first-up on April 2nd, Ungrateful Ellen returned to the winner’s circle in the Anzac Centenary Cup (1600m) on April 16th.

Having since placed fifth in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) and third in the Group 3 SA Fillies Classic (2500m), the Grey Swallow filly should have no issue in stepping back to 2200m for the 2015 Queensland Oaks.
