2011 Queensland Oaks Form Guide

June 2nd, 2011

The 2011 Queensland Oaks Form looks outstanding and in reality there are at least half a dozen horses worth serious consideration at the top of the field.

The obvious favourite for the Queensland Oaks is Scarlett Lady which has won her last five including The Roses at Doomben.

The kiwi accounted for what was considered Australia’s best hope Divorces and has given every indication she’ll only improve over the 2400m.

As for Divorces well she’s not out of it either and Peter Snowden says she’ll be ridden further back in the field to hopefully maximise her closing kick and hit the line a bit stronger at Eagle Farm.

It’s another kiwi Shez Sinsational which probably poses the biggest threat to both of them as her form across the ditch is incredible good.

She has two wins and a second coming in the Queensland Oaks and reports are that her race times are far from overshadowed by those of Scarlett Lady at Te Rapa.

It’s a horse carrying the kiwi silver fern colours that is the other major chance, Fibrilation rose to prominence during the Sydney carnival and ran a very game fourth on a heavy track in the Australian Oaks.

The competition was probably tougher down south but she’ll have to deal with some fresh horses on a dry Brisbane surface.

These are just the top few of a field full of talent and it’s up to you to find the best picks in the 2011 Queensland Oaks field.

2011 Queensland Oaks Form Guide

#1 – Divorces (Barrier – 8) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: Peter Snowden
  • Jockey: Kerrin McEvoy
  • Career Stats: 15s – 2w – 6p
  • Last Start: 3rd at Doomben

Ran third in The Roses and was beaten for pace for Scarlett Lady easily. Will be ridden quieter in the Oaks but will be relying on things not going the favourites way.

#2 – Hidden Kisses (Barrier – 4) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: Robert Heathcote
  • Jockey: Larry Cassidy
  • Career Stats: 14s – 3w – 2p
  • Last Start: 7th at Doomben

Has been four lengths away from Divorces in her last two and it’s tough to see her turning that around. Place chance from barrier four.

#3 – Fibrillation (Barrier – 6) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: Tim Martin
  • Jockey: Glyn Schofield
  • Career Stats: 9s – 2w – 3p
  • Last Start: 1st at Rosehill

She’ll get back to midfield from six and work home very quickly. Won first up after more than a month off following the Australian Oaks, same form will put her in the picture.

#4 – Scarlett Lady (Barrier – 9) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: G & B Rogerson
  • Jockey: James McDonald
  • Career Stats: 9s – 5w – 2p
  • Last Start: 1st at Doomben

Deserved favourite after winning five in a row including The Roses. She’ll be very hard to beat and at her best it could be impossible.

#5 – Fillydelphia (Barrier – 11) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: Robert Heathcote
  • Jockey: Luke Nolen
  • Career Stats: 15s – 5w – 2p
  • Last Start: 4th at Doomben

Beat the boys in the Rough Habit and looked like a real Derby chance. Comes back to face the girls here and she’s in the mix, big track at Eagle Farm will only help her cause.

#6 – In A Tangle (Barrier – 1) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: Brian Guy
  • Jockey: Corey Brown
  • Career Stats: 16s – 3w – 4p
  • Last Start: 11th at Doomben

Second to Divorces on the Gold Coast but horrible in The Roses finishing 11th. Needs an absolute miracle, barrier one not enough to consider her.

#7 – Becerra (Barrier – 3) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: Lee Freedman
  • Jockey: Dwayne Dunn
  • Career Stats: 13s – 2w – 1p
  • Last Start: 4th at Doomben

Big surprise at Doomben running home fourth but could be deceiving on a forward bias track. Will be near the lead early but should be overrun with relative ease.

#8 – Savannah’s Choice (Barrier – 10) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: Chris Waller
  • Jockey: Tim Clark
  • Career Stats: 12s – 1w – 6p
  • Last Start: 2nd at Doomben

Second in her last three and thoroughly deserves a win. Was a $61 chance in The Roses, if she’s in double digits again she’s well and truly over the odds.

#9 – Driving Reign (Barrier – 14) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: Harry Reed
  • Jockey: Brad Stewart
  • Career Stats: 19s – 4w – 4p
  • Last Start: 5th at Ipswich.

Finished in the top 10 for the first time in a long time last start at Ipswich. Finishing in the top 10 here would be an achievement as well.

#10 – I Walk The Line (Barrier – 7) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: P & W Webster
  • Jockey: Glen Colless
  • Career Stats: 12s – 2w – 2p
  • Last Start: 8th at Doomben

Looked to be on the improve but went back to square one when 8th last week. Could run a place but doesn’t have the closing kick to overrun them all.

#11 – Tropicana Girl (Barrier – 16) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: Chris Waller
  • Jockey: Hugh Bowman
  • Career Stats: 13s – 2w – 3p
  • Last Start: 1st at Canterbury

Last start win at Canterbury earned her trip north and she’s far from the worst. Barrier 16 is an issue and she may well push to the front from there.

#12 – Heidilicious (Barrier – 15) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: John Sadler
  • Jockey: James Winks
  • Career Stats: 5s – 2w – 2p
  • Last Start: 6th at Doomben

Has been dogged by barrier issues but if she can get it right she’s a real hope. Worked home extremely well at Doomben after missing the start, look for her late.

#13 – Shez Sinsational (Barrier – 2) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: Allan Sharrock
  • Jockey: Opie Bosson
  • Career Stats: 8s – 4w – 2p
  • Last Start: 2nd in New Zealand

Another big player from New Zealand and a record suggesting she can do the job. Has Run first or second six times from eight so definitely one to include.

Bet on Shez Sinsational now at Luxbet

#14 – Crafty Lady (Barrier – 5) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: J Symons & S Laxon
  • Jockey: Scott Seamer
  • Career Stats: 11s – 2w – 4p
  • Last Start: 2nd at Ipswich

Her second to Mr Light Blue last start has held up after his good run and probably brought her into contention. Don’t think she can win but from five she can run a place.

Bet on Crafty Lady now at Luxbet

#15 – Nayana (Barrier – 12) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: Grant Allard
  • Jockey: Jake Hull
  • Career Stats: 6s – 2w – 1p
  • Last Start: 6th at Gold Coast

Won at Gosford, won at Newcastle but faltered to a distant 6th last start. Was an outside hope before that, can’t include her after that run.

Bet on Nayana now at Luxbet

#16 – Black Sparta (Barrier – 17) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: Paul Murray
  • Jockey: Chris Munce
  • Career Stats: 9s – 1w – 3p
  • Last Start: 2nd at Gold Coast

Very consistent at Kembla Grange and run ok for a second last start. Was nearly five behind the winner though and this grade is much much tougher,

Bet on Black Sparta now at Luxbet

#17 – Jahre (Barrier – 13) (55.5kgs)

  • Trainer: Anthony Cummings
  • Jockey: Jim Byrne
  • Career Stats: 8s – 1w – 1p
  • Last Start: 6th at Kensington

A maiden at Wyong was her first and most recent win at the end of April, it’ll be the same story after the Queensland Oaks.
